DIY Lip Scrubs, Parabens free, for Smooth and Kissable lips

I thought it was high time, as seen that autumn is almost here, I shared with you some easy and yummy lip scrubs, skin safe and totally free from parabens, mineral oils and other chemical stuff that most of the commercial lip scrubs and balms contain. If you’ve already read the “About me” page, you probably already know that I encourage you to stop poisoning yourself with all the chemicals, silicons, parabens & preservatives most of the conventional cosmetics contain and to learn how to read the labels in order to become an aware and empowered consumer. To my full disappointment, I still see on the internet and on youtube DIYs containing pure petroleum jelly or vaseline,  a fossil fuel product that you are “advised” to apply on your lips and skin! :/ What?!? Well, if you did  not know, petroleum jelly or vaseline is not really a skin moisturizer. It only acts as a barrier when applied on the skin reinforcing the moisture that is already present in the skin by trapping it within. Did you know that The European Union’s Dangerous Substances Directive (UNECE 2004) lists petrolatum as a “probable human carcinogen” and is banned for all personal care … Continue reading

DIY Natural Alcohol Free Toner for Oily & Acne Prone Skin

alcohol free toner diy

Hello ladies, here I am with this week’s beauty tip: a DIY natural alcohol free toner for oily & acne prone skin. First of all, do you use in your daily skin care a facial toner or you’re pretty much confused whether to use it or not? Our skin has an acid mantle made up of sweat and oil. Using a cleanser can change our skin’s pH balance. However, our skin will fortunately recreate these oils within a few hours. But should you have oily skin, a toner will help you keep shiny skin in check. Nowadays most of the commercial toners on the market contain irritating ingredients, such as alcohol, citrus, or overly fragrant ingredients. If you’re interested in making your own natural alcohol free toner then you may wanna take a look at my below video tutorial: We  should use facial toner every single day each time we wash our face as a good toner can help remove excess oils and dead skin cells that may lurk on the face after washing. I personally apply my face cream when my face is still a little bit humid due to toner application cause to some extent a toner can … Continue reading

scrub BFT

Summer has already been here for quite some time and I’ve had my week of fun, sun and sea but this is exactly what inspired me to share with you my tanning beauty tips. Let’s see how I prepare and protect my skin and what do I do to prolong my sun tan. Who does not like a tanned skin? But sun may easily become your enemy if you don’t expose yourself gradually and “obeying” some un-written rules ;). In order to diminish the damages sun may bring to our skin, it is necessary to prepare it for the oxidative action of the sun. Click below to see the video-tutorial If you long for a healthy uniform tan, the first thing you should do some days before heading to the beach is a body scrub. I’ve used a homemade coconut and poppy seeds body scrub. You are free to use your imagination and adapt the … Continue reading

Homemade Natural Deodorant Recipe: Deodorant Stick & Deodorant Cream using coconut oil

homemade deodorants

This week’s recipe is dedicated to a homemade natural deodorant recipe! My favorite natural deodorant stick & deodorant cream, both with coconut oil as one of the main ingredients and of course, both aluminum & chemicals free! Have you ever wondered how does a deodorant work and what does it contain? What about anti-perspirants? Well, the deodorant neutralises the smell of our sweat, and it uses antiseptics to fight the bacteria, but does not prevent sweating while antiperspirants block our sweat ducts, thus reducing the amount of sweat that the body produces. Aluminum, which is usually used in antiperspirants to stop the skin sweating is a mineral that is not normally found in the body and studies have linked it to the Alzheimer’s disease, to cancer in animals and breast cancer in women, which is closest to where antiperspirants are applied. But aluminum is not the only ingredient to be avoided. There are many other poisonous chemicals in the conventional antiperspirants: parabens (usually used as a preservative), propylene glycol, a neurotoxin that is known to cause dermatitis and kidney damage, phthalates, TEA, DEA (used to adjust the pH in cosmetic products), and last but not least triclosan, an artificial antimicrobial chemical, known to be a skin irritant and … Continue reading

Curious about today’s beauty tip? ^_^  Well, I am going to share with you how you can make your own whipped butter for hair and a smart trick of how to fight cellulite using the same product 😉 As you may have already understood from my previous tutorials, I love making my own products at home. 😉  It’s the only way I can get to control what goes onto my skin & hair. Today’s tutorial is dedicated to one of my favorite hair masks : a rich creamy whipped butter.  I have used quite a lot of ingredients but don’t be discouraged by the rich formula, you can get amazing results also by simplifying it! Check out the video-tutorial below for  the recipes! Just remember: in order to get the same creamy texture always maintain the percentage of 40% butters against 60% oils. As for the essential oils, do not use more than 25 gtt per 100g of product. Essential oils are extremely powerful and should be used cautiously! They will scent your butter and empower it with its wonderful properties. All the oils & butters can be found in supermarkets or even more easily online <3 Instructions: – always melt first the … Continue reading

A biphasic eye makeup remover consists of a water-based cleanser and an oil-phase liquid. Shake them together and the two different phases will mix up combining their properties to remove your makeup. In the whole makeup cleansing process, removing eye makeup step cannot be skipped. Not washing away the daily makeup it is bad for your lashes and eyes. It’s not only a question of waking up with dark smudges on your face.
