First of all, we all should acknowledge that beauty begins from the inside out with colorful, delicious and nutrient fruit and veggies, lots of water and a positive attitude that makes the world a happier place to live in.
But, unfortunately, nowadays we are mostly concentrated on how to highlight our beauty with a welldone makeup, when in the end, beauty is not all about makeup. Beauty isn’t just about how you LOOK, it’s about how you LIVE your life, it’s about eating healthy and keeping fit, getting good sleep and enjoying life laughing and loving, despite all our everyday problems.
Our outer appearance reflects our health cause we are in fact what we eat and our skin will reflect too what we apply on it. Let’s start our skin care from the inside out making sure that we get our glow on by drinking plenty of water and eating lots of hydrating foods. A good healthy nutrition will help you sleep better, have more energy, and with all these comes also a glowing skin.
Just remember :“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.” – Irish Proverb –
Another lesson I’ve learned on the way is that expensive does not necessarily mean better! I used to spend a fortune on beauty products hoping that these would be the answer to my “problems”: acne, oily skin, thin and volumless hair, you name it!
The problem is that most of the cosmetic and beauty products on the shelves today are filled with synthetic, toxic and sometime carcinogenic ingredients and we simply just ignore it and assume that if they are on the shelves and adverted everywhere around us, the ingredients must have been regulated and tested for safety. Well, bad news!
When it comes to the multi-billion dollar cosmetic industry, we’re no longer safe. It’s high time we start paying attention to what we apply onto our skin and start investigating what are the ingredients in the products our family uses. Learn how to read the labels, get in control of what you apply on your skin.
Remember that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has no authority to require companies to test products for safety. FDA does not review or approve the vast majority of products or ingredients before they go on the market. The agency conducts pre-market reviews only for certain color additives and active ingredients in cosmetics classified as over-the-counter drugs. Products labeled natural or organic often contain synthetic chemicals, and even truly natural or organic ingredients are not necessarily risk-free ( www.ewg.org – source).
What about edible cosmetics? Yes, edible cosmetics 🙂 It’s not a typing error.
Isn’t the kitchen one of the most creative places of the house? A lot of food ingredients that are good for our health are perfect as cosmetic ingredients as well, and can be used to make creams, masks and other products that nourish the skin from the “outside”. The advantage? The freshness of the final product and the lack of possible harmful preservatives.
Of course you will not be able / have the time / have the knowledge to reproduce all your cosmetic that’s why it is of primary importance you learn to read the labels of the products you’re using cause not all products that claim to be green and organic, they truly are!
A green packaging or a green slogan doesn’t make a product natural, green or organic. Unfortunately, chemicals, petroleum and allergens can be identified only if you learn to read the label. It’s the only way you can avoid using products much too aggressive, that may be the cause of dermatitis and skin irritations.
